Do you need to hand over your PDF Embedder account and active subscription to a client or another team member? Instead of canceling and repurchasing, you can seamlessly transfer ownership by updating the account profile and billing details.
This guide covers the two available options for transferring a PDF Embedder account to a new owner.
Option 1: Update the Account Details
This option keeps the existing subscription intact and hands it over by updating the account information.
Update Account and Billing Profiles
The first step is to replace your existing information with the new owner’s details to ensure they have full control over the license.
You can begin by updating your account details with the new owner’s name and email address. Once the profile is updated, you must also update the billing details to the new owner’s payment method, ensuring that future renewals are processed correctly.
Granting Access to the New Owner
After the email address on the account has been changed, the new owner can take full control of the login credentials.
You may provide them with the current password, or they can choose to set their own by using the forgotten password option on the login page. This will allow the new owner to create a unique private password associated with their updated account.
The new owner can verify their access and billing information to complete the transfer.
Important: The account username is always the email address used at original registration and cannot be changed. After updating the profile email, the new owner can log in with either the original email or the updated one. Do not try to create a new account using the original email address; it is already registered in the system and a second account cannot use it.
Option 2: Creating a New Account and License
This option creates a clean break and gives the new owner their own account. With this approach, no payment or personal data is shared between the two parties.
Managing the Existing Subscription
The first step with this option is to cancel the current subscription to prevent future charges on the payment method linked to the current account.
The existing license will remain fully active until the end of the current billing period, so there is no immediate urgency to move the license. You will receive a reminder email approximately one month before the expiration date.
Registering the New Owner
After the renewal reminder email, the new owner should visit our pricing page to purchase their own license with their own details.
After the new owner completes their purchase and receives a license key, they can finalize the process by verifying the license key within the WordPress dashboard. This replaces the old credentials with the new subscription.
Frequently Asked Questions
Below, we’ve addressed common questions about transferring a PDF Embedder license.
Will my PDFs stop working on the site during the transfer
No. Your embedded PDFs will continue to function normally throughout the process. The plugin settings and embedded files on your WordPress site will remain intact.
Yes. Once the account is updated or a new license is purchased, the new owner enters the license key in Settings > PDF Embedder > License on their site to activate it.
Which option should I choose?
Option 1 is faster and keeps the existing subscription pricing. Option 2 gives the new owner a completely separate account, which is cleaner if you want a full handover. If the current subscription is grandfathered at a lower rate, note that Option 2 requires a new purchase at current pricing.
